Christmas and New Year are here! It’s high time to buy gifts, and if you have friends who work in the tech writing field, this article will be helpful for you, or if you’re a technical writer, you can use my suggestions as a wishlist.

Furniture

As for me, I like to read, study or do some work in the bed, so I bought a multi-tasking lap tray that looks like this one.

It has phone and tablet holders, a rubber part to write in your notebook comfortably. My life changed — now, it’s so comfortable to work in the bed, my back and arms don’t go numb, so I can relax after office hours and spend time productively.

Moreover, as I work at home frequently, I bought a chair that turned out very comfortable. Previously, I tried different types but when I bought the typical streamers chair everything changed — my back doesn’t hurt anymore and work hours are more productive now.

Video Game

If your friend or you like video games, it’s a great idea to give one. Moreover, according to some resources, there will be Christmas Sale on Steam: 19 December — 2 January. In this case, I can’t advise you something since tastes are different. I do like ‘The Witcher 3’ but the majority of people played it.

App

Technical writers are those people who use apps regularly. So, you can buy an app or tool as a gift. For example, if your friend still uses MS Word for tech writing, I recommend that you give a professional tech writing tool. Healthy Snacks

Everyone likes to eat snacks while working but it’s a better idea to give healthy snacks and candies like nut-free trail mixes (dried fruit, mini dark chocolate chips.), fruit/veggie chips, and the like. You can find more on iHerb. I think it will be great to get a gift basket that is full of fruits, veggies, healthy snacks for good mood.

Otherwise, you can cook beautiful tasty treats by yourself. Watch the following video to get inspired.

Maybe, this can’t be called healthy but you may buy a bar of vegan chocolate that doesn’t contain sugar and decorate it using nuts and dried fruits to make it more nutritious.

Stationary

Some people like to take notes in their bullet journals, so stationary will be a good compliment. Nowadays, there is a wide range of stationery goods — cute masking tapes, stickers, pens, stamps and so on.
